How to Fry a Steak
Frying a steak is a delicious way to enjoy a tasty meal. Here's a simple guide on how to do it:
Prepare the Steak: Start with a good quality steak. You can choose from ribeye, T-bone, sirloin, or filet mignon, depending on your preference. Make sure the steak is at room temperature before you start cooking.
Season the Steak: Season the steak with salt and pepper. You can also add garlic powder, onion powder, or your favorite steak seasoning for extra flavor.
Let the Steak Rest: After seasoning, let the steak rest for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, making your steak more tender and juicy.
Heat the Pan: Heat a frying pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of high-smoke-point oil, such as canola, grapeseed, or vegetable oil. Allow the oil to heat up until it shimmers.
Cook the Steak: Place the steak in the pan. Let it sear undisturbed for about 2-3 minutes per side for a 1-inch thick steak. Adjust the time based on your desired level of doneness. For rare, cook for 2 minutes per side; for medium-rare, 2.5 minutes per side; and for medium, 3 minutes per side.
Rest the Steak: After cooking, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for another 5-10 minutes. This will help the juices redistribute, making your steak even more tender.
Serve: Slice the steak against the grain into thick or thin slices, as desired. Serve with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
Enjoy your perfectly fried steak!
